Texas unraveled into pandemonium when a man went on a violent rampage armed with a 5-foot log of a tree branch. Witnesses recounted scenes of horror as the attacker struck a patron in the bar before later punching an employee.

Surveillance cameras captured the attack, showing a man brandishing the hefty branch as a sort of club; the force of it upon contact caused the wood to splinter into shards. Adam Mercado said he was there with his girlfriend and likened the sound of the branch making contact to a gunshot, which panicked patrons on the patio of this bar.
“After the branch shattered, my girlfriend rushed to my side, then dashed back inside to call for help,” Mercado said. The employee targeted by the assault took a nasty blow to the face but is likely to recover.
”It was terrifying,” Mercado shared on social media. Though shaken, Mercado and his girlfriend went about the rest of their night until the attacker struck again.
“It sounded like a gunshot,” Mercado described how it all sounded when the branch hit his head and split into splinters. It felt like someone had dazed him; he sustained a concussion that would later send him to the hospital. “It’s been traumatic,” said Mercado, adding that he is even afraid of going outside his home.
The attacker also attacked an employee of the bar before he vanished into the night, casual in his stride. Mercado’s girlfriend, Taylor Monnet, rushed to call for help. She remembered the mayhem and her pitiful cry for help.
Authorities with the Dallas Police Department are now working diligently to track down the alleged attacker and his motives behind the attack. While police sources described the assault as apparently random, a reason such as this remains elusive for many, leaving people guessing as to why someone would commit such an act of aggression.
Details of the conditions of the victims were still scanty. How badly the bar patron and the employee were injured has not been fully revealed. Speculations are rife that it could be awful due to the nature of the assault, with head trauma and probably facial injuries not being ruled out.
