The New York Giants Need Saquon Barkley To Stay In New York

The New York Giants have been a laughing stock for over the past decade. The offense has severely struggled to put up points and to keep them in games. However, since the Penn State Alumn, Saquan Barkley was drafted in 2018 he’s been the spark the Giants so desperately needed. Barkley has been put in a very odd predicament over the past year. In 2018, on 261 attempts Barkley rushed for 1,307 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns, according to ESPN. Not to mention, he also recorded 91 receptions for 721 yards and four touchdowns.

Sadly, since this monster productive season, the following seasons haven’t been so fruitful. This is no fault of his own either just simply the case of injuries began to play a toll on his production. From 2019-2020 he was plagued with ACL injuries sidelining him for the remainder of the season both seasons. This not only fatigued him mentally but also the front office of the New York Giants as well.

    Saquan Barkley Contract Difficulties

The New York Giants were very eerie of Barkley going forward due to his injury history, reported NFL.com. Therefore, making this season pretty much what many consider a “contract year”. After, displaying a dominating performance against the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday. Barkley rushed for 164 yards and one touchdown on 18 attempts. Yet, he was still not pleasured or content and he wishes to prove a point to many of his doubters and the Giants’ front office.

“It’s just one game, to be honest. That’s how I look at it,” he told reporters. “Obviously, at the end of the day, I’m excited to get the win. But personally, I just gotta keep coming. Something that keeps sticking with me is that the coach (Brian Daboll) says, just enjoy the process. That’s something that I’ve been battling the last two years with rehabbing and injuries, and that’s been my mindset. So, no matter what. Win, loss, tie, I was going to come in here with the same mindset and just keep enjoying the process.”

Giants WR Sterling Shepard doubled down and vouched for Barkley having a unique and different mindset going into this season.

“He’s got it in his eyes,” wide receiver Sterling Shepard said, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News. “You see that man’s eyes. Locked in, focused. Man’s a dog, bro. People better stop playing with that man.”
