Britney’s Conservatorship is Over
The news that has taken the Internet, ‘Toxic’ star Britney Spears has been freed from her conservatorship following a ruling on Friday, Nov. 11 from Los Angeles Superior Court. The verdict was handed down by Judge Brenda Penny. And for many fans, that day was so important for the singer.
After 13 years under Spears’ father, Jaime Spears, it is officially over as her conservatorship. Judge Penny ended the court-ordered arrangement earlier this year. The hearing this week concluded the highly publicized legal battle between Spear’s and her father. Her father had held the role since 2008, and Spears could not handle the ‘abusive and traumatizing’ behavior any longer.
With the conservatorship being so public, fans supported the singer. Moreover, they had her back through the entire process. Spears fans came together and created #FreeBritney that both brought awareness and light to the case.
The Day Many Won’t Forget
A monumental day that many won’t forget, especially for “Hit Me Baby One More Time” artist that the time she has always been waiting for is officially here. Spears’ attorney, Matthew Rosengart, held a news conference following the termination from her conservatorship, and acknowledged how it was a big day for the singer.
“Starting today, the conservatorship has been terminated for both Britney Spears’ personal matters and her estate,” stated Spears’ attorney outside the courthouse. “What’s next for Britney, and this is the first time this could be said for about a decade, is up to one person, Britney.”
Unfortunately, Spears did not attend the 30-minute hearing; however, she was more than happy with the verdict.
The Love from Her Fans & Fiancé
Alongside the hearing, screaming fans waited outside the Los Angeles’ Stanley Mosk Courthouse as they cheered with joy, and this popstar was not going to ignore it. Britney Spear’s tweeted a video from the celebration outside the courthouse.
In her message, she exclaimed, “Oh my goodness, I adore my fans to the point of being amazed!” “I might just cry for the rest of the day!! This is the absolute best day ever….”
Spears’ fiancé, Sam Asghari, celebrated his soon-to-be wife on Instagram on Friday with the word “Freedom” in a pink square. “History was made today,” he writes in the caption. “Britney is Free!”
What’s Next For Spears?
The artist’s estate is appointed to her co-conservator, John Zabel, and he will help assist in the transfer process. He will be allowed to execute estate planning documents and the transfer of assets. The hearing to finalize the transfer of assets and other pending items will take place in January 2022.
While Spear’s conservatorship has been terminated entirely, her court appearances aren’t over. According to CBS News, the following two court cases are set for Dec. 8 and Jan. 19. Fans can only imagine what Spears has in store for the rest of her life. But one thing is for certain: Britney Spears is free.
