Mowry’s family has been put to the strain as she works through her divorce with actor Cory Hardrict, most notably in her relationship with her twin sister, Tamera Mowry-Housley. The emerging distance between herself and her sister discusses a follow-up to the new reality show documentarian Tia Mowry: My Next Act. Sisters who have been so close that even their tag appeared to be stretched at one juncture, there are huge life changes testing the closeness of twins.
After 14 years of together, Tia and Cory Hardrict divorced in April 2023. The couple had all the making of a Hollywood power couple and has two kids. According to Tia, the divorce has been quite hard, and she needed her sister’s support during this period. She can’t, however, keep relying on Tamera because of the current state they’ve maintained in their relationship.
In Tia’s reality series, the different facets of her evolving relationship with Tamera are revealed; the sisters have not been as close lately. The twins are just not as close as they used to be from their days of starring together in the popular 90s sitcom Sister, Sister. She shared that this rift further made her feel alone, which was even tougher while she was going through her divorce. She indicated that even though she might have wished to reach out to her sister for support more often, her bond with her sister has grown weaker over time.
This is pegged on her marriage to the former Fox News correspondent Adam Housley, an association said to have led to the ideological split between the sisters. Ideally, Tia and Tamera are said to have grown apart because of their contrasting political and personal views. This, as well as other life changes like Tia’s divorce, has somehow created more division between the two sisters, having them at a very delicate state in sisterhood.
The differences in their worldviews have caused much separation between the sisters. Tamera married the conservative correspondent Adam Housley in 2011, marrying into a completely different dynamic between sisters. Tensions in the sisterhood reportedly started developing when their once-aligned personal and political beliefs began to digress. These little differences became increasingly hard to look over, adding tension to the growing distance between the sisters.
While Tia was facing the emotional turmoil of her divorce, the rift with her sister and the lack of her emotional support due to this matrimonial void added an element of difficulty. Yet, above the divide, Tia still managed to give a shout-out to Tamera’s birthday publicly via Instagram in July. She shared pictures that told the twins’ story high Colt and mentioned the remarkable milestone they have surmounted together, showcasing a flicker of hope of the bond that may mend in time.
Through their rocky relationship, Tamera has made a few public gestures of solidarity with her sister in the middle of her divorce. She had called her twin sister “Glowing, whereas in interviews, she cited Tia “Strong after going through hell”. The encouraging words by Tamera would suggest that though their sisterly love is on shaky grounds, the love and admiration were not all lost between them.
