Charlie Woods just gave golf fans their magic moment. Tiger’s 15-year-old lad-a son gave fans something to talk about for quite some time while playing in the PNC Championship on Saturday as he incredibly bagged an ace, setting his old man over the moon.
On the sunny par-3 fourth, Charlie pulled out his 7-iron. Standing 175 yards away, the young golfer sent his ball soaring. It landed softly on the green and rolled straight into the cup. The crowd erupted as Charlie’s first-ever hole-in-one became the tournament’s highlight.
The ball barely rolled in, and Charlie wasn’t even sure at first if it went in. “I didn’t really believe it until I saw the ball in the hole,” Charlie told reporters afterward. His father, Tiger, had stepped away briefly and wasn’t there to witness the magic, but upon hearing the roar, he turned back and managed to get a big celebratory hug from his son.
Tiger was literally over the moon, written across his face. “That was absolutely magical,” he said. “To see Charlie get his first hole-in-one is something I’ll never forget. It’s not just about the shot — it’s about creating memories like this together.”
It wasn’t all serious, however. Tiger teased Charlie about having to buy drinks after making an ace, a tradition in golf. Charlie’s response? “I’m broke, Dad!
The hole-in-one wasn’t the only highlight for Team Woods. The father-son duo opened the tournament with back-to-back birdies, showing strong teamwork and plenty of skill. Despite their impressive play, they finished as runners-up, tying with Bernhard Langer and his son Jason, who clinched victory in a playoff.
But not to Tiger, for whom the final standings didn’t matter. “The joy of competing alongside Charlie and seeing him grow is what it’s all about,” he said. And Charlie couldn’t agree more. “This was the most fun I’ve ever had on a golf course,” he shared.
Charlie’s hole-in-one has set fans abuzz about his possibilities in golf. Though young, poise under pressure and natural talent cannot be dismissed. Onlookers have marveled at his sound swing mechanics, resembling his dad’s legendary form.
Tiger, however, is all about letting Charlie enjoy the game. “His ceiling is unlimited, but the most important thing is that he loves what he’s doing,” Tiger said. The PNC Championship is a family party, and to Team Woods, this week was about those moments. From the crowd’s roar to the playful jabs inside the team, the bond between father and son goes way beyond the golf course.
