Tragic Death in Connecticut: 6-Year-Old Beaten by Stepfather With Baseball Bat

A 6-year-old boy died after his stepfather brutally beat him in Bridgeport, Connecticut. The child had been on life support because of the severity of the injuries sustained. Later, he was declared brain dead before he finally died.

The 38-year-old stepfather of the boy has been indicted in court on charges of murder for the heinous assault. Sulaiman reportedly used a baseball bat to beat the 6-year-old and also his brother, 4, and his mother. Fortunately, both the mother and the younger child survived the attack and are said to be in stable condition.

The police investigation started after several calls to emergencyresponders were placed at about 11 o`clock in the morning. One of the calls came directly from the mother of the children who said that her husband attacked her and the kids with a bat. By the time law enforcement officers arrived on-scene, Sulaiman was bloody and mumbling incoherently.

Inside, police found the mother and her children, who had retreated to that space for protection from the attack. The 6-year-old boy was cold, though, and showed no signs of breathing or pulse/heartbeat. All three victims were transported directly to the hospital. Notwithstanding the endangering efforts of the medical personnel on duty, the 6-year-old’s condition kept on worsening as he first got declared brain dead before finally giving in to it.

As the investigation unraveled, shocking details about Sulaiman’s past behaviors were revealed. The mother of the children reported that Sulaiman had been smoking PCP, or phencyclidine-a powerful hallucinogenic-prior to the attack. She also said it was not the first time he had become violent toward her and the children.

Part of the police investigation included reviewing area surveillance footage. It showed, in a very disturbing sequence, a baseball bat being thrown out of the apartment window, followed by Sulaiman himself leaping from the window. He had managed to land in a large waste container, seemingly attempting to flee the scene.

Abdulrahim Sulaiman’s bond is set at $10 million. He has been placed on suicide watch pending his next court date due to the severity of his charges.
