After winning the National Championship, the Clemson Tigers were rewarded with a feast that’ll surely keep them from winning next year’s game.
On Monday, President Trump welcomed the national championship winners to the White House, with a spread he calls “Great American Food.” Boxes and smells coming from McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, and Domino’s pizza filled the White House’s State Dining Room.
“Because of the shutdown, as you know, we have the great Clemson team with us,” Trump said. “So we went out and we ordered American fast food paid for by me. Lots of hamburgers, lots of pizza, I think they’d like it better than anything we could give. And so, have a little fun.”
Guests were amazed at the sight of food when they first entered the room, which usually hosts dinners for celebrities, royalty, and other high profile names. But because of the government shutdown, this was the best Trump could think to do. But hey, at least he paid for it!
During the dinner, one player said, “Our nutritionist must be having a fit.” And indeed they probably were. According to Trump, there were a total of 1,000 burgers provided for the Clemson Tigers– all of which he said had disappeared in no time.
Pictures also show dipping sauces and french fries provided on silver platters.
