It was a social media storm this past week after a Tiktoker known as Meredith Brown, but with the username Mere_G_Brown, levied sex misconduct charges at reigning UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira; an alleged incident that occurred during the UFC 302 fight weekend in Newark, New Jersey.
Brown turned to TikTok, sharing the harrowing experience in a series of emotional videos explaining why she had come out following some period of silence. She made it very clear that healing and getting her life back on track is her real motive.

Brown shared her harrowing account through a series of heartfelt, tear-filled videos on TikTok that spanned 19 minutes. She said that she had begun to struggle with mental health and she was very scared nobody would believe her.
Brown said it had been a heavy burden keeping the incident to herself, and hoped that by telling her story she would start healing and not feel so alone anymore. Speaking to possible cynics, Brown assured people this wasn’t about chasing clout, but regaining some sense of normalcy.
Social media has responded in a mixed way to the claims. Several users came out to defend Brown, praising her for her courage to speak out. Others said she needs to provide real proof and that Pereira deserves presumed innocence until proven guilty. These diametrically different reactions from public reflect the complexity of the issue when such allegations are levied against famous personalities.
Thus far, Alex Pereira himself and his team have not responded to the accusations.
