A black coffin bearing the inscriptions “R.I.P. Drake” and “R.I.P. OVO” was delivered to DJ Khaled’s Miami residence on February 15, 2025. The macabre act, which was captured by security cameras, has set the music world and fans talking about what it means and why it was carried out.
Two men, who pretended to be deliverymen, appeared at DJ Khaled’s Miami Beach house on Saturday evening, claiming they had a package to deliver, reports say. Surveillance footage shows the two men taking out a large black coffin from the car, placing it in front of the door, kneeling down in front of it, making strange hand gestures that some have speculated were prayers or a ritual, and then staying silent for a moment before leaving the site without another word.
The coffin itself was marked with an upside-down white cross, as well as the words “R.I.P. Drake” and “R.I.P. OVO” in white bold letters. DJ Khaled’s security, upon discovering the coffin, promptly removed and discarded it. No police investigation has been reported at this time.
The timing of this stunt has led to rampant speculation about its meaning, particularly as it relates to DJ Khaled and Drake’s supposed falling-out. In February, DJ Khaled teased that Drake would be featured on his upcoming album Aalam of God, only for Drake to publicly deny the implication. This led to rumors of a feud between the two artists, with neither artist personally confirming any such dispute. A coffin with “R.I.P. King Von” inscribed on it was dropped off at his doorstep by two unidentified men who were also pretending to be deliverymen. Some fans have even gone as far as to speculate that this could have something to do with the bigger rap feuds that are dominating the industry, namely Drake’s current feud with Kendrick Lamar.
