At a concert for New York City Pride on Saturday, June 29, 2024, 21-year-old pop star JoJo Siwa had some fans who booed her. She was part of the lineup for Trixie Mattel‘s Solid Pink Disco Pride Tour. Rather than overlooking their unsavory reaction, Siwa chose to have an honest and raw confrontation with her hecklers.

Siwa notices the booing from the audience during her performance and stops right in her show to address the matter. She shouts into the microphone, “Who the living fk just booed me? Where the fk did that come from? Which one of you? Which one of you?” pacing across the stage in search of whoever is responsible.
Things escalated even further when Siwa noticed a handmade sign from fans in the audience. She took the sign and calmly told the heckler, “Respectfully, fk you!” She also flashed her middle finger, encouraging her backup dancers to offer their middle fingers while her fans applauded and cheered for her.
The incident’s video went viral in a very short period, evoking debates on decent behavior and how one would react to this kind of situation. Most reactions from the media and social websites are against Siwa’s response, which incorporated foul language and hand expressions.
Siwa failed to stop the performance. Instead, she also encouraged her backup dancers to give them the middle finger. She concluded her performance with, “Fk the booers, somebody just chucked a bra at me.”
This was one event among many happenings as part of NYC Pride. Other events were slated for the day, including Youth Pride, SATURDAY, The Main Event, Greenwich Village PrideFest, The March, The DL Bliss Days, and The Stonewall Jukebox.
This New York gig was a week after Siwa gave a record performance at Chicago Pride Fest—powered by the largest-ever audience, which frankly blew fans’ minds to their core—she turned to Instagram herself. She said this was “unreal,” thanking responders for their fantastic support.
“You all really did that, came and had the best time with me,” Siwa wrote. “I saw all of you with your posters, your f—ing karma makeup on, construction vests, and JoJo bows. That was f—ing epic. Best f—ing time, I love you. THANK YOU.”
This would not be Siwa’s only triumph at Pride events. Earlier this year, she set the records at the pride event in Miami Beach with a performance to an audience of over 50,000. When speaking after the experience, Siwa thanked Miami for providing her first live performance in over two years and said that it was an excellent place for it since they allowed her to feel safe with how they arranged everything.
“First live performance in over two years… Broke the record for Miami pride attendance with a f—ing 50,000 of you in the crowd. My biggest audience ever as well,” she shared. “Miami, THANK YOU for giving me the safe space to have this first performance. I’ll remember this day forever.”
JoJo Siwa reduces creativity with giantly strong, resonating lyrics deep in her fan base. Intervening to face booing fans at the New York City Pride concert proved that she doesn’t take such occurrences lightly anymore when she is up for defending herself at that point and representing her fans.
