Actor Will Smith made a dent on Twitch, and cost xQc a lot more than a couple of chuckles. Academy award-winning actor Will Smith took part in a stream on 19th February 2025 with well-established Twitch streamer xQc and musician Marcin Patrzalek, but the stream took a light-hearted turn with Smith unintentionally donating to the stream’s followers with the PayPal of xQc.
During the stream, xQc took a break shortly, leaving Patrzalek with Smith by himself with the chat. With the chat filling with the streamers’ request to be unbanned, Smith asked out of curiosity about Twitch’s moderation functionality if he could unban someone by saying, “Can I unban someone? Teach me to do that. Who can I unban? We have no idea what they did.”
Instead of being banned, the actor stumbled upon the subscription gifting feature by mistake. Not aware that he was logged into the PayPal of xQc’s, Smith began giving away Twitch subscriptions like Oprah giving away cars. “You get a sub! You get a sub!” could easily have been the mantra of the day.
When xQc was back, Smith maintained a poker face, acting like all was well. Once the streamer had a clue of what had happened, his reply was a mix of shock and amusement. “Bro, what have you done?!” exclaimed xQc, with Smith laughing and shrugging his shoulders.
As if awarding the subs weren’t generous enough, Smith also saw it necessary to criticize the banning procedures of xQc himself. In reviewing the banned user’s chats, Smith saw the following message that stated: “Make better content. You trash.” “That’s what he said? He got banned for that?” Smith shook his head. “Man, you’re going to eat that and, like, end up being the best player in the world. You’re going to thank him for that nonsense.” The chat filled with laughter at the way that Smith was roasting xQc for not being able to handle criticism like a champion.
Memes, GIFs, and reaction vids spread within a matter of hours to seal this encounter among the best celebrity moments on Twitch to date.
In between his antics on Twitch stream, Smith revealed a piece of film news that got the fans talking. He revealed a clue regarding a Hancock sequel with the news that Zendaya is being pursued to star in the film. He also revealed that I Am Legend 2 is going ahead with Michael B. Jordan being at the forefront of the film.
While Smith made no details public, the surprise news of a film lent a sense of excitement to a wildly disjointed stream of talk.
xQc later addressed the controversy on social media by uploading a selfie with Will Smith with the message, “Only on Twitch. Appreciate you, @WillSmith.” Fans filled the replies with witty questions regarding if he had received a PayPal refund yet.
