YouTuber Slimzo found himself telling an unlikely and somewhat unfortunate story. He let a rapper known as VonOff1700 take his beloved Hellcat for a spin, only to find that the car was wrecked shortly thereafter.
A video he posted, titled “VONOFF1700 WRECKED MY HELLCAT!!! (NOT CLICKBAIT),” captured the incident and showed Slimzo dumbfounded and frustrated with the situation.
Slimzo lets VonOff1700 behind the wheels of his powerful Hellcat. Of course, with the worst happening, he starts driving out of control in a split second. He loses grip over the car and sends it flying off the road. Cameras captured the dramatic scene of the car skidding and finally coming to a stop off the road when he was driving it. Fortunately, nobody got seriously injured, but it was quite a close call!
The video received instant attention of more than 141,000 likes, and the comments overcrowded all social media platforms-from fans showing their concern and surprise to debates on how risky it was to let someone else drive such a powerful and fast car.
VonOff1700, whose real name is Davon Meeks, is an up-and-coming Chicago rapper who has been on a rise since 2020, talking his way into the hearts of hip-hop fans with relatable rap lyrics and catchy beats. Ironically, this incident put him more in the limelight, further blurring the lines between social media fame and the consequences of high-performance car ownership.
No sooner did it drop on YouTube than the internet burst with reactions galore from all corners. The comments section was filled, as fans aired a cocktail of emotions: shock, sympathy, even humour. The same could be seen across other social media platforms, Instagram and Twitter inclusive.
Some people sympathized with Slimzo, recognizing how hard that must be to see such an expensive car reduced to rubble.
“That Hellcat was like a part of him,” one fan commented, referring to how attached Slimzo usually gets with his vehicles in his content. Others couldn’t but feel that it had to be done. “You give a rapper a Hellcat, and you expect him NOT to wreck it?” one user joked, clearly implying the danger of putting at the wheel of such a powerful car someone not sufficiently used to being there.
This serves as a lesson for many, wherein high-performance vehicle sharing can lead to consequences one may not predict, especially when the driver may well not get used to such high performance handling. While these experiences are very much fun and nice to make content out of for social media, they come with serious risks, too.
But that conversation that incident sparked is so important; it reflects upon creativity versus responsibility in the worlds of influencers and celebrities alike. Slimzo is willing to share this experience, which evidentially has got more function than entertainment; potentially teaching his viewers about risks involved.
