Soulja Boy Apologizes & Seeks Therapy After Disrespecting Metro Boomin’s Mom

Soulja Boy, the artist who made a splash with his 2007 single “Crank That,” has delivered an apology to Metro Boomin, a fellow rapper. This comes after Soulja Boy made offensive remarks about Metro’s late mother, causing a stir in the music industry.

The apology delivered during an Instagram Live chat on Wednesday, May 15, 2024., in which soulja Boy expressed his regret, stating,

“I apologize to @MetroBoomin for overreacting over an old tweet. Condolences to his mom. I’m going to seek therapy and anger management. I’m done responding to hate, new or old.”

This incident was triggered by a resurfaced tweet from Metro Boomin, posted 12 years ago, criticizing Soulja Boy’s career. In response, Soulja Boy went on a rampage, even suggesting that Metro’s mother’s death was an Illuminati sacrifice. However, he has now expressed remorse and extended an olive branch to Metro Boomin.

When the news of Soulja Boy’s comments and subsequent apology broke, fans had mixed reactions. Some found it hard to forgive the rapper for his harsh words. “This isn’t funny. It’s disgusting. His mother was murdered in cold blood by someone who was supposed to love her. And on top of that he took his own life so Metro will never get justice,” one user wrote on Instagram. Another added: “Some things even apologies can’t fix.”

Despite his apology to Metro Boomin, Soulja Boy had some harsh words for other artists, including 21 Savage and Meek Mill. It seems that the rapper is not extending the same courtesy to them.

Cole when he spoke on Soulja Boy’s 2007 hit “Crank That” on the Lil Yachty-hosted podcast A Safe Place. J. Cole expressed how he and his friends would rather listen to artists like Three 6 Mafia and Lil Jon at that time. The impact of Crank That and the new wave of Black culture infiltrating into the music at that time troubled J. Cole artistically and morally.

Following these comments, Soulja Boy posted part of the interview on X to air his grievances in a social media rant. Nevertheless, he eventually came to the realization that he might have “stood for [J. Cole] comments in the wrong way” and apologized.

Metro Boomin, for his part, has not acknowledged Soulja Boy’s statement. The producer has continued to mute on the subject of the SODMG CEO. The fans of Soulja Boy and Metro and their followers are all eager for his answer measurably.
