Lyle Mazin, the longtime attorney for the 24-year-old artist—real name Javarri Latre Walker—issued a public statement on Sunday, claiming the arrest was triggered by an orchestrated attempt to breach Hotboii’s home after his address was shared on social media by the mother of his child.
“Last week, the mother of Hot Boy’s son, Asia Monroe, posted Hot Boy’s private home address on social media with the intent to bring him home,”
Mazin stated.
“On Wednesday, two hooded men were caught attempting to break into the home where both Hotboii and his son reside.”
Mazin argues that Hotboii reacted in the only way a parent could when faced with a threat to his child.
“He acted as any reasonable person or parent would,” Mazin said. “Yet he was taken into custody.”
Police accounts provide a contrasting perspective. Officers responded to a call at approximately 3:40 a.m. on July 9 regarding two “suspicious males” running through the Doral International Academy of Math and Science parking lot. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Hotboii scaling a fence and discarding a black Carhartt bag, which was later found to contain a Glock 45 9mm firearm. He was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon, as well as trespassing on school property. Hotboii, 24, was released shortly after on a $2,500 bond.
This arrest marks the latest chapter in Hotboii’s seven-year legal history. Most notably, in July 2021, he faced RICO charges tied to allegations of leading the “438 gang” in Orlando’s Pine Hills neighborhood. Represented by Mazin at the time, Hotboii saw those charges dismissed after the attorney argued that “438” was a social media hashtag reflecting his community, not a criminal enterprise.
Hotboii pleaded guilty to a conspiracy charge as part of a plea deal, with Mazin noting that the case relied heavily on Instagram posts and a firearm found in Walker’s car during a friend’s funeral. He was released from prison in September 2024 after serving roughly three years.
Mazin’s current approach centers on self-defense and parental duty.

The defense portrays Hotboii as a father safeguarding his child from a credible threat. Given his son’s presence during the alleged home invasion attempt, this narrative could resonate with both the public and the courts.
Hotboii has not made a public statement on the matter, and his next court appearance has not yet been announced.
