Perry’s decision to leave ‘Idol’ was not easy. She admitted that she loved working with fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan and mentoring aspiring singers. However, she also confessed that she felt a “burning desire” to create new songs and share them with the world.
“I’ve been itching to get back in the studio and express myself through music,”
She said.
“I have so many ideas and stories to tell, and I can’t wait to share them with you.”
But music is not the only thing Perry wants to dedicate more time to. The 39-year-old singer, who welcomed her first child, Daisy, with her partner, Orlando Bloom, in 2020, also expressed her wish to expand her family and enjoy more quality time with them.
“Being a mother has been the most rewarding and fulfilling experience of my life,”
She gushed.
“I want to give Daisy the best childhood possible, and I also want to have more kids with Orlando. He’s been so supportive and amazing, and I’m so lucky to have him.”
Perry’s departure from ‘Idol’ also comes amid reports of financial disagreements with ABC, the network behind the show. According to sources, Katy Perry earned $30 million per year as a judge on American Idol, making her one of the highest-paid reality TV stars ever. However, ABC was reluctant to increase her pay for future seasons, as the show’s ratings and revenues have declined. Perry, who reportedly felt undervalued and overworked, decided to walk away from the show and prioritize her well-being and happiness.
While Perry’s fans may be sad to see her go, they can also look forward to her musical comeback. Perry, who last released an album in 2021, has been teasing new music on social media, hinting at a possible change in direction and style.
“I’m experimenting with different sounds and genres, and I’m having so much fun,”
She said.
“I think you’ll be surprised and delighted by what I have in store for you.”
Perry also assured her fans that she would always cherish her memories and legacy on ‘Idol. ‘ She recalled some of her favorite moments from the show, such as dressing up as Snow White, Dumbo, and Ursula, giving hilarious and honest feedback, and discovering talented singers like Alejandro Aranda, Laine Hardy, and Just Sam.
“I’m so proud of all the contestants and the amazing music they’ve made,”
She said.
“I’m also grateful for the friendship and camaraderie I’ve shared with Lionel and Luke. They’re like brothers to me, and I’ll miss them dearly.”
As Perry prepares to embark on a new adventure, she also expresses her gratitude and love for her fans, who have supported her throughout her career. She encouraged them to follow their dreams and passions and to stay tuned for her upcoming projects. She also invited them to share their thoughts and memories of her on ‘Idol’ using the hashtag #ThankYouKaty.
“You guys are the best, and I love you so much,”
She said.
“This is not goodbye, but see you soon. I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been working on. Until then, keep roaring!”
